Literature
Novels
Written on the Body, by Jeanette Winterson- This book follows an anonymous character through their sexual escapades and the struggle to find 'true love'. The real twist is not only the name but the GENDER of the character is left for the reader to decide. As the character is bisexual, this cannot be done with any real conviction. It is not YA material, but a mature reader will enjoy this novel.
The Takeshi Kovacs novels, by Richard K. Morgan- This book trilogy (Altered Carbon, Broken Angels, Woken Furies) follows cynical, fast-thinking ex-U.N. Envoy Takeshi Kovacs in the 25th century. In this future, the human consciousness has been successfully digitized, being stored in the body, in a "stack" located in the upper spinal column. With this technology, humans can switch bodies, or "sleeves", with the only limit being the person's wealth. In such a society, where humanity has spread throughout the galaxy, Kovacs is a former member of the elite Envoys, warriors trained to be flexible in moving from sleeve to sleeve. Warning: This is a very adult series, with graphic violence and explicit sex sequences.

Short Stories
"Mefisto in Onyx", by Harlan Ellison- Rudy Pairis has a special talent: He can read minds, or as he phrases it, "jaunt into a person's landscape". His female friend of 11 years, Allison Roche, has a big favor to ask of Rudy. She wants Rudy to read the mind of a convicted serial murderer in order to find out if the man is truly guilty.
"The Region Between", by Harlan Ellison- In this fantasy/sci-fi romp, William Bailey is a man who has decided to go to a Euthanasia Center because he feels life is not worth living. Serendipitously, Bailey's soul is trapped by a "soul merchant" named The Succubus, a creature who sells souls to reignite a body that's had its soul stolen by the mysterious Thieves. In contrast to every other soul that's been treated this way, however, Bailey does not wish to work with the Succubus and begins inciting the creatures he inhabits to revolt.
Cinderella, by Brothers Grimm- Many readers are familiar with the tale of Cinderella. She is young girl, with an evil stepmother, who tries to keep her from her Prince Charming. Luckily, a fairy god mother is there to help Cinderella achieve her dream, and go to the grand ball, where she can find her Prince. The fairy god mother makes her an extravagant gown from rags, glass slippers, makes a carriage from a pumpkin, and horses from mice. However, there is a catch. Cinderella must be back by midnight, because that is when the spell will wear off. Much like how A must have the bodies he is in back to their house by midnight, before he departs from them.

Movies
- Donnie Darko (2001)- While this movie does not have transmigration as a motif, the story between Donnie and Gretchen parallels the struggle A faces with his impossible love for Rhiannon. Here's the trailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdKbNuhXWvQ
- Being John Malkovitch (1999)- This movie deals with the idea of taking over a person's body, but instead of Every Day's idea of one person entering multiple persons, different people take turns entering A-minus-list celebrity John Malkovitch. Here's the trailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7ahIGLNNwo

"Children waiting for the day they feel good

Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen

Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me "

Philosophy
"The Mind-Body Problem"- First discussed in detail by Rene Descartes, the Mind-Body Problem deals with the question of what is truly "real", the mind or the body? Every Day seems to take the stance that, at least for A, both have a meaningful reality. OR, could there be a third substance that each proceeds from (neutral monism)? A handout has been provided for launching any further investigations on the Handouts page.
